While we have been reading our book, Kensuke’s Kingdom, we have been considering how the rights of the main characters are portrayed. We have thought about whether or not these are able to be upheld and if they should be, if so – by whom?
What happens for a child without guidance? Are you then the person in charge of your decisions and therefore, your rights?

In Year 1, we have been learning about our rights and discussing how everyone has the right to an identity. We talked about how our names are special and help to show who we are.
As part of our learning, we have been practising how to log on to the iPads independently. To do this, we need to be able to recognise and type our own names correctly. The children have been working hard to find the letters in their names and carefully type them into the devices.
Learning to log on by ourselves helps us to become more independent and confident when using technology. We were very proud of the determination shown by the children as they practised this important skill.

During our first week of Year 2, we have been busy working together to create class charters to make our classrooms happy and safe places to be! We thought very carefully about how each of our class rules links in with our rights.
